The Exodus phone will enable users to hold their own keys, and they stressed this is the number one focus of the device. The phones private key management protocol is called Zion, and will provide a trusted hardware stack with APIs that connect to wallets. The phone will support a social recovery mechanism for private keys, where users can entrust up to five people to help them recover their keys in the case of losing your device.

Phil Chen, Decentralized Chief Officer of HTC said during the presentation today, the company plans on only accepting cryptocurrency to purchase the phone. At current rates, it is around 0.15 BTC and 4.78 ETH.

The open-source phone seeks to expand the blockchain ecosystem by creating the world’s first phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security. With the release of the HTC Exodus, HTC believes it can now make this a reality.
