O3, an open-source project featuring a cryptocurrency light wallet ecosystem built for the NEO and Ontology blockchains, has now rolled out version 3 of its cryptocurrency wallet with new and refined upgrades.
The V3 update includes improvements to the O3 Swap service along with Coinbase integrations to provide users the option to now convert from NEO to other digital assets like BTC or ETH, and to the USD stablecoin, USDC.
Further, for users who have a Coinbase account connected to the wallet, it will automatically generate a fresh address tied to their Coinbase account to receive assets. The update also includes a more advanced portfolio feature set to help users properly manage their Coinbase account, see all of the updates now implemented below:
Coinbase Connect Improvements
The initial implementation of the O3 Coinbase Connect simply allowed users to send assets from your Coinbase account using the O3 Pay on the dAPI. Since then O3 has expanded this so users can view balances on their mobile O3 wallet.
With this release, users can now fully explore their Coinbase account balances on both mobile and desktop, and even review their full transaction history for all their Coinbase purchases in one place (currently only on desktop, mobile coming soon).
Enhanced account privacy
The O3 Pay dAPI has been further enhanced to allow users to get addresses for the various assets they can hold in their Coinbase account.
The address generation is done in a way so that users always get a new address for an asset every time, while ensuring that the new address is connected to their overall balance in your Coinbase account. This helps to protect users from potentially leaking their account balance to anyone they are receiving funds from, since every address sent to people will be a new empty address.
Sending assets on-chain and off-chain
Further, beyond the dAPI, users can also quickly and easily send and receive assets from their Coinbase account from within the wallet itself. This allows users to send their friend’s money or pay for services directly from the O3 wallet, and view these transactions all in one place. The updated send service allows for both on-chain and off-chain transactions.
With on-chain transactions, users enter the blockchain address of the receiving wallet, the appropriate mining/transaction fee will be charged automatically by Coinbase, and the transaction will be processed in the next block of the receiving chain once processed by Coinbase.
Alternatively, if the receiving party also has a Coinbase account, users can just enter their Coinbase account email to send the assets to them off-chain. These types of off-chain transactions are fully managed by the Coinbase servers, and will be executed instantly and without having to pay any fees.

Ever had a question about how to use a feature in an O3 app? In order to improve feedback, the O3 team has implemented a more direct feedback loop, with integrated support directly into the apps.

- Improved payments integration with O3 Pay, or better automation between the Swap app and user’s Coinbase account

- New profile for connected Coinbase account. View balances, transaction history, historical pricing information, send assets, and receive assets, all directly from your O3 wallet
- Brought back sorting of wallets in the drop-down list of accounts
