Bitcoin (BTC) payment app Fold implements Lightning Network

Beginning with Starbucks, Fold has since grown to serve users in 8 countries, exchanging over $2.3 million to date

The team of bitcoin payment app Fold, announced today that Lightning Network capability is now integrated. Fold allows users to spend bitcoin at their favorite retailers in-store or online.

As of now, all Fold users can spend their BTC instantly with nearly zero fees at retailers including Amazon, Starbucks, Uber, REI, Home Depot, Southwest Airlines, Target, AMC, Whole Foods and more.

Merchants are able to settle payments via their prepaid access programs in the currency of their choice.

While Lightning capability enhances the bitcoin payment experience, users will find the same features that make Fold different: no KYC, no mandatory signup, no hidden markups, no altcoins and completely non-custodial.

Foldbtcss“We believe that bitcoin provides a fundamentally better way to pay, one that preserves privacy, resists censorship and is natively global. To this end, we build products that make spending bitcoin a no-brainer, making it as easy to use, rewarding and widely accepted as a credit card.”

Beyond the finalization of Lightning integration, Fold is currently working on expanding its list of supported retailers, integrations with other partner wallets and ecosystems, and an incentive system to reward users for using Fold.
