SafeTech Labs releases hardware encryption device SafeKey FIDO 2

SafeTech Labs, a Belgian company based in Brussels and focussed on blockchain and security engineering, announced today the release of SafeKey FIDO 2, a hardware encryption device for multiple use-cases. The team is launching a pre-sale for the Safe Haven and VeChain community. Those interested can order a SafeKey before it is launched in the official webshop to the public. SafeKey will also be publicly showcased at the VeChain Summit held in San Francisco, California on April 18th, 2019.

Protect your accounts against espionage and identity theft by hackers — private and professional with SafeKey. Strong hardware encryption, made reliable in partnership with NitroKey.

Security via Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

SafeKey FIDO 2 is your key to secure logins to websites (e.g. Google, Facebook) and to your own systems. For this purpose, you configure your SafeKey FIDO 2 once with your accounts, and from that point on confirm your login by simply pushing a button on the SafeKey. Your protected accounts remain secure even if attackers have stolen your password.

FIDO Universal 2nd Factor (U2F)

FIDO U2F impresses with its ease-of-use, versatility and high-level security. Apart from a supported web browser, no additional software or driver installation is required. Configuration and use are very easy with just the push of a button. You can use a single SafeKey FIDO 2 to protect any number of accounts of different kinds (e.g. websites, in-house proprietary systems). Thanks to strong cryptography, FIDO U2F is significantly more secure than SMS and app-based authentication methods.

FIDO 2 on the Safe Haven Inheritance Platform

SafeKey will bring extra protection to those who utilize it within the Safe Haven Inheritance Platform for blockchain assets, providing another layer of login security. Furthermore, Safe Haven has customized SafeKey by providing internal storage within the unit, an option not currently found within the FIDO market. The internal storage can be utilized to store encrypted shares of private keys, passwords and account details.

FIDO 2 on Cryptocurrency Exchanges

SafeKey integration will be offered on exchange partners as an additional layer of security when combined with the Safe Haven Inheritance Solution. As the adoption of SafeKey grows, the Safe Tech Labs team will discuss the possibilities of integrating it within other aspects of its partners’ models. These future efforts will be aligned with our goal of partnering with the most secure and customer oriented platforms within the space.

“Our digital identity is more important today than ever before, especially within the growing crypto-sphere. Correct representation on social media and in public is essential for both individuals and businesses. Moreover, we can hardly forego important online services such as banking and finances. Stolen accounts and wallets can have disastrous consequences for those affected. At the same time, successful attacks on online services and accounts are repeatedly being made public. Perpetrators also use captured usernames and passwords in order to log in with those credentials to other online services, which is why most large online services now support two-factor authentication.”
