ICONex, the official wallet service of the ICON blockchain network is now open. ICONex is a wallet where users can manage their ICX but also other various tokens. The launch starts today with a desktop version as a Chrome extension. The team is still perfecting the mobile (Android & iOS) wallets and will be launched in the near future. The wallet can currently manage ICX, ETH, and ERC20 tokens.
The ICX wallet currently stores ICX mainnet coins, not the token generation event issued ERC20 ICX coins. Users who wish to transfer these tokens to the ICONex wallet must transfer them to the ETH wallet address. Of course, storing ICX ERC20 tokens in the ICONex wallet is not a necessity.
Further, the ICON team announced some news regarding the ICX airdrop and token swap schedules.
Airdrop
For ICX holders, the airdrop will be distributed as mainnet ICX coins and can only be received through the ICONex ICX wallet. After a simple verification process, the airdrop will be made on a specific date to be announced during March 2018. The specific procedures will be disclosed only on an individual basis to those who are entitled to the airdrop (token sale participant, bounty, and other event winners).
Token Swap
ICON is still hammering out the details for the ERC20 ICX to mainnet ICX token swap process. In the meantime, the current ICX ERC20 tokens will be able to make transactions. However, after a period of several months with many communications and reminders regarding the swap, the ERC20 tokens will be burned.
Concerning these updates, the ICON team stated:
