Farmer Connect, IdRamp, Streetcred ID join decentralized digital identity network Sovrin

The Sovrin Foundation, an international nonprofit building a global public network for decentralized digital identity, has announced that Farmer Connect, IdRamp, and Streetcred ID; have become the newest Sovrin Foundation Donors—organizations that provide financial, technical, or other contributions that support the foundation’s ongoing mission to provide an open-source, decentralized digital identity network that anyone can access.

With these contributions, the Sovrin Foundation is able to build, administer, and promote the world’s first network for self-sovereign identity—the Sovrin Network—which enables everyone to control their identity and data online.

“We are immensely grateful to Farmer Connect, IdRamp, and Streetcred ID for becoming Donors. These are organizations that are deeply committed to self-sovereign identity and the individual’s right to control his or her identity online. They see the Sovrin Network as the natural evolution of digital identity, and they have made themselves known as early adopters and supporters.”
– Heather C. Dahl, Executive Director & CEO of the Sovrin Foundation

Farmer Connect

Swiss-born tech startup Farmer Connect, creates blockchain-compatible, traceable supply chains to eliminate supply chain inefficiencies and to connect consumers straight to the farmers who create the products they use. In collaboration with Streetcred ID and the Sovrin Foundation, the company developed the world’s first self-sovereign identity wallet and production guardianship solution for smallholder farmers to control their identity, enabling many to become bankable for the first time. The SSI solution is integrated with their consumer-facing blockchain-based app called “Thank My Farmer” which bridges the gap between the coffee supply chain and the farmer who grew the beans. More on Farmer Connect’s SSI platform will be announced soon.

“We fully believe in everything that the Sovrin Foundation stands for and are proud to publicly support its efforts. Farmer Connect is working to use SSI to empower farmers to own, control, and monetize their data for the first time in history. We look forward to being an active community member and contributor in the years to come.”
– David Behrends, Founder & President of Farmer Connect

IdRamp

IdRamp develops decentralized identity solutions that allow enterprises to easily integrate SSI into any business strategy without modification to legacy systems. The company became a Sovrin Steward in 2019 and has given significant code contributions to the Sovrin Foundation, including the development of the Sovrin Developer Exchange—a self-service web app that speeds up how organizations can find and connect with experienced developers in the Sovrin ecosystem. The Sovrin Developer Exchange is expected to be announced upon completion of its beta test.

“IdRamp became a Sovrin Foundation Member to accelerate adoption of digital self-sovereign credentials. Our customers needed a more secure and flexible approach to identity management. Self-sovereign credentials provided a solution, but we needed standardization and interoperability for enterprise adoption. Our customers operate diverse identity systems that are complicated and expensive to upgrade for new technologies like SSI. Sovrin Foundation provided the tools and governance required to help make IdRamp an enterprise-grade verifiable credential management service. Sovrin helped IdRamp take SSI out of the laboratory and move it into a front-line business focused solution. The Sovrin community provides a vast range of resources for any organization interested in digital credentials. IdRamp is proud to be a contributing member of the Sovrin community and part of the advancement of digital self-sovereign credentials.”
Mike Vesey, CEO of IdRamp

Streetcred ID

Streetcred ID is a full-stack self-sovereign identity provider that partners with innovators around the world to help them easily and rapidly integrate decentralized identity into any application. The team is composed of some of the earliest contributors to the Hyperledger Aries project, DIDComm protocols, and has been involved in the SSI community for years. Streetcred is also a Sovrin Steward, and recently launched its full-stack SSI platform which includes a new mobile wallet and a developer portal to issue verifiable credentials on the Sovrin Network in less than five minutes. The Sovrin Foundation recognizes Streetcred as its first Donor since the launch of its new membership program.

“Being a Donor to the Sovrin Foundation is a no-brainer. Sovrin’s contributions to the community, from code to advocacy to standards work, is truly invaluable. A sustainable self-sovereign identity ecosystem is something we all need, and that will take everyone in the community chipping in to do their part.”
