Coinbase, the popular bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchange company, today announced that it has been approved as a Visa principal member. Coinbase is now the first company in the crypto ecosystem to be granted Visa principal membership. The membership will enable Coinbase to offer more features for Coinbase Card users; from additional services to support in more markets.
In April 2019, the Coinbase Card first launched in the UK, a Visa debit card that allows customers to spend their crypto at merchants wherever Visa is accepted. Now, Coinbase Card is available to users in 29 markets who are able to spend 10 different cryptocurrencies. The Coinbase team informed that over half of customers who have signed up for Coinbase Card use it regularly, with the leading usage being in the UK, followed by Italy, Spain, and France.
