Mexican bitcoin exchange Bitso gets Gibraltar DLT license

The regulation of Bitso by the GFSC represents a fundamental step to consolidate the platform that connects traditional and digital economy, not only in Mexico, but also in Latin America and Europe

Bitso Exchange Dlt

Bitso, a Mexican based and Latin American bitcoin exchange, has announced that coming up on August 1, 2019, the custody, as well as the sending, withdrawal, and trading of cryptocurrencies, will be regulated by the Distributed Ledger Technology Regulatory Framework of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC).

The GFSC back in 2018 formed a legal framework built specifically to regulate businesses such as exchanges, with consumer protection and safety as two of the key issues.

Obtaining this license positions Bitso as one of the main promoters of blockchain and bitcoin exchange in Latin America, by becoming the first exchange in the region and the sixth global company, to be endorsed and regulated with a license from the GFSC.
