BetProtocol partners with Ankr to scale blockchain-based betting apps

BetProtocol enables entrepreneurs and developers to create betting platforms in minutes.

Betprotocol Ankr

BetProtocol, a blockchain-powered platform for developers to create betting apps, today announced its partnership with Ankr, a distributed cloud computing network using idle processing power in data centers and edge devices.

This partnership enables BetProtocol to leverage Ankr to provide hard computing resources to its operators in a distributed and highly resilient network. The goal is to provide fully cloud and blockchain-based betting applications, each running on an Ankr instance for high performance and availability of gaming services.

“Current base-layer blockchains like Ethereum cannot handle computation heavy gaming applications in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Feasible solutions on the market include having a hybrid system where computation and storage are handled off-chain, but our vision is to have a 100% on-chain future. Ankr allows us to do that by using their platform to leverage idle computing power and storage in the cloud. For example, instead of using a multi-tenant server on AWS, we can use ANKR’s distributed hosting where every betting app operator gets their own instance on ANKR, so they can control the data/compute themselves.”

– Rui Teixeira, CEO, and tech lead of BetProtocol

In a truly global and decentralized online gaming paradigm, each operator can run its operations from anywhere in the world and leverage the distributed cloud to do so. The servers that function as the data centers for these operators would be very robust, with high availability for continuity of gaming operations.

“This is a great partnership for Ankr and BetProtocol since we envision dozens and hundreds of betting dApps coming online in the coming year. Our operator clients’ dApps can use Ankr cloud computing in the near future on their own instances. This architecture allows for truly 100% on-chain and trustworthy gambling dApps with all the performance that matches or exceeds traditional centralized server-based apps. We are incredibly excited to see how our two technologies can create long-term value for the online gambling industry.”
