Crypto hardware wallet Trezor successfully integrated into MetaMask

It was announced today from Satoshi Labs, the creator of cryptocurrency hardware wallet TREZOR, that the device is now integrated into MetaMask, the popular Chrome extension for Ethereum.

Starting today, users can seamlessly use MetaMask with Trezor to check account balances (ETH and tokens), sign transactions, manage smart contracts, ÐApps, and anything else that is available on MetaMask.

Additionally, users now do not need to transfer ether or tokens to MetaMask before dealing with contracts, which saves time.

Since Trezor secures user private keys, it is no longer required to rely on MetaMask to keep keys safe. Keys remain only on the Trezor device, protected by the hardware.

Using MetaMask with Trezor

Once a user now connects an Ethereum account from a Trezor device, it will be shown in MetaMask as a “Trezor” account. Upon opening it in the app, it will show the entire transaction history, balance, etc.

However, when wanting to sign a transaction or a message, or execute any operation using keys stored in the Trezor device, MetaMask will send that request to the Trezor, and the user will have to approve the action on their device.
