Bitfury announces new Chief Technology Officer

The Bitfury Group, a leading full-service blockchain technology company has announced the hiring of Marc Witzke as its new Chief Technology Officer.

Witzke brings more than 20 years of experience in global R&D, engineering, and manufacturing of semiconductors and electronic products. Prior to joining Bitfury, he worked as Chief Technology Officer for Yota Devices. As CTO, he led the hardware and software R&D teams in Finland, Moscow, and China to develop consumer electronics and connectivity devices. He also pioneered the dual-screen YotaPhone.

Prior to Yota Devices, he served Plastic Logic, a pioneering company in flexible and organic electronics technology, for more than 6 years. Prior to this, Witzke was the Senior Manager of Technology in AEMtec, a spin-off of Infineon Technologies, for 7 years. He was one of the start-up management team members of AEMtec and led its technology development through rapid growth. Witzke started his career with Siemens, Fibre Optics business unit, where he served as a Process Engineer and later Operations Manager. He has led various novel technology, start-up businesses and manufacturing projects in many countries.

Bitfury also announced that Valery Nebesny, one of the original Bitfury co-founders, will transition to a strategic technical advisor to the CEO and will join Bitfury’s advisory board.
